It’s officially fall. The way I know this is not by the calendar, it’s because I’m sick. Having a four year old in the house ensures that I get every bug that goes around, and lo and behold I feel a doozy coming on.
Today I’m going to try something that my best friend swears by. I’ve tried it before when I had a bad cold, and was only able to get half of it down, before I felt it coming back up.
I feel so badly at the moment, I’ve decided to give it another try. The magic concoction my best friend swears by is Oregano Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar. Think of it as a wellness shot that tastes really disgusting.
Since I wasn’t able to choke it down last time, I have decided to try Oregano Oil pills, they probably don’t work as well as the straight oil, but I figure it’s better than nothing. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything comparable for the Apple Cider Vinegar. I’ll have to drink that, which isn’t easy to do.
Oregano oil is highly antibacterial and anti-microbial. It kills those pesky bugs that make us sick without damaging the beneficial flora like antibiotics do. Oregano Oil has many uses, but is best for treating upper respiratory infections. It is also useful in treating urinary tract infections, staph and MRSA.
There are over 40 different species of Oregano and they aren’t all therapeutic. You need to look for the kind that is derived from Origanum vulgare and Thymus capitatus. You should be able to find this at any health food store.
Apple cider vinegar, most of us have on hand for making salad dressings but did you know that it can also kill many types of bacteria? In addition, it aids in lowering blood pressure, helps improve heart health and assists in detoxifying your organs. It can also be used to treat digestive problems such as acid reflux and can even help you lose weight by increasing feelings of satiety.
Many people claim that mixed together, Oregano Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar are a flu and cold fighting powerhouse.
There is a lot of research supporting these claims which makes me hopeful. I’m going to put it to the test today and see what happens. I’ll let you know the outcome!
Have you tried this? Did it work? Scroll down to bottom of page and tell us your experience.
Yesterday I dosed myself with the Oregano Oil pills and a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar every 4 hours. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually feel completely better today. I didn’t expect it work that quickly. I still feel very tired so I’m not running off to the gym, but I don’t feel sick anymore!
My Conclusion is, it tastes disgusting and it’s hard to choke down but it’s worth it! Next time you feel a cold or flu coming on, try it and let us know what you think!
