Hi, I’m Alisa and I live in the beautiful city of San Diego. I’m 43 years old , I have a 14 year old daughter, a 4 year old son, a wonderful husband and a really cute dog.
In my attempt to activate my creative mind that has sat dormant since I gave birth to my first child, I decided to try my hand at blogging. I have always liked to write but the question has been what should I write about? I decided to look deep within myself and find what really gets me up in the morning, other than my 4 year old telling me he has to pee. I realized that it’s cooking healthy, awesome meals for my family, it’s hitting the gym or being active in some way and helping my family to flourish.
We are all busy and have lots of stress. It’s not always easy to make a healthy meal, or to find time to nurture our selves while nurturing our families. Having a daughter with a mental illness, and a son with a rare congenital syndrome has caused a ton of stress in my life. It would have been easy for me to lose myself in the situation and forget to take care of my own needs. I have remained steadfast in my commitment to live healthfully and to teach my children to do the same. Keeping fit and eating nutritious foods has helped me immensely in other aspects of my life. Exercise has been an incredible stress relief for me, and even when it has seemed next to impossible, I push myself to do something physical. The mental boost it gives me has seen me through my darkest days. My belief in what healthy foods can do for your body and mind, has motivated me to find simple ways to incorporate nutritious foods into my families diet. None of us have all day to spend cooking from scratch and it doesn’t have to be the only option.
